Nearing the end of October, having just had a couple of storms roll by us, I thought I should take the bike out for a wee blast on a Sunday to make sure everything was OK with it – a short run on my own to a local country park seemed ideal.
So that’s exactly what I did – I hatched a plan to go to Beecraigs Country Park in West Lothian. Less than 10 miles away, over some wee twisty roads, it seemed the perfect choice. A wee bit of space and some time on my own to clear my head with – you know, typical bike day out.
When I arrived at the visitor centre the car park was full, so I cleaned my visor (handy that – let me see better in the glare of the low sun), admired the Ducati Multistrada I’d managed to find space beside for a bit and then set off again, heading North winding my way over to Bo’Ness.
No idea why – it just seemed like a good idea at the time. While there, I stumbled across the Kinneal local nature reserve. A truly magnificent sight, at least, in imagination.

Having had my mind blown by the spectacle that seemed to be nature’s equivalent of a run down council estate i.e. 2 minutes later, I got out of there and decided to stay out on the road to see where it taes me.
Turns out that was Bannockburn. A trip with leaves, standing water, winds and Jessies galore on the way there.

It was a good run out – cleared my mind and the space between my ears beautifully!
I wound up getting cold legs on the way back, so thermals required or the Winter methinks!
