Stepping to St. Andrews

Stepping to St. Andrews

I had an errand to do in fife so I took the opportunity to have a mooch around the Kingdom of Fife (which sound like some Disney thing, filled with princess and broken wishes)… Either way I had to head to Kelty, and I asked Step if he fancied a wee run outside of the city for a bit.

We discovered that his exhaust was hanging on by a lucky couple of studs – the 6mm nuts that held it on to the cylinder had managed to shake loose and had fallen off somewhere. Luckily we were able to source a couple and managed to get it put together again – less than ideal given his bike is due it’s first service (at 300 miles) this week. I’d be taking that up with the dealership because that seems like a bit of an oversight when bolting it together.

Screw ups aside though – we went to St. Andrews and the down the fife coastal route to Anstruther – after all, there’s a good chippy there, and that’s like catnip to a fat bloke like me.

If it’s award winning, like the wee chippy was in 2023, so much the better. Orders cooked to order, and genuinely good chips – an outstanding combination.

The shore in Anstruther did get us talking about Lovecraftian horror stories as we saw the rain coming in – looked like mist rolling in off the sea.

Seems Anstruther reminded us both of Innsmouth, and its population – if you really want to see what I’m on about, take a look at Dagon.
