New Year, New Goals

New Year, New Goals

A new year has arrived, and it’s still bloody freezing outside.

So naturally that meant we’re still out, but only for a wee jaunt as it is new year’s day, and my 2nd non commute on the bike since surgery. I met that lads close to home (at Bikespeed, who were closed – fair enough, as everyone deserves a break) and we took off with the idea of going North to South Queensferry and possibly the infamous Biker’s Cove (who were also closed).

We got to South Queensferry without many issues ( just the usual ice, grit, salt, rubble and shite on the roads, competing with potholes, metalwork and subsidence) and the weather was pretty much perfect for a short ride despite the Winter sun hanging low in the sky.

The forth bridge, 2 tools and my spiritual home in the background (pikey van).

After South Queensferry we set out for Linlithgow, and almost made it before John decided to give us a history lesson and we had to pull over for some respite.

The Binns tower (top left), and a dick. 2 Erections, 1 photo.

Once we got to Linlithgow, we thought it safer not to stop (any town with a pub called “The Black Bitch” has to be suspect, right?!) so hit the back roads ending up in Forth.

Didn’t avoid a pothole that time though, but having one that was about 8x14x6″ in the middle of the road on the exit a roundabout on an A road has to be some kind of deliberate act by the council at this point really – it’s true enough that on a motorbike everyone is actually actively out to kill you. Even when it’s their day off.

Despite the negativity pushed by the state of the roads, and the abuse from the lads a new goal for the year was arrived at for me. It may be time to go to Europe.

If I can, I’ll start with the easiest country to invade first – France.
