I’d heard of these courses, and managed to grab a couple of places on one for me and the lads.
We all met up in the morning and decided to kill some time from 10am to midday, so naturally we went to Carnwath for pies. The Apple Pie Bakery – bloody lovely.
Once we’d eaten we went to Motherwell Fire station to learn what to do should be come across an accident, or have one ourselves – from scene management, to basic first aid and being given the excuse to wear neon pink (who knew it was the most visible colour?!).
The course lasted about 3 and a half hours and was genuinely worthwhile. Even despite their bitching about using great weather for something other than riding, the lads seemed to agree.
If you get the chance to do one, please do – it could save your, or someone else’s life.

After the course we had loads of daylight to burn so went out for a run from Motherwell to Strathaven to Muirkirk – at which point my shoulder hurt as I hadn’t braved ibuprofen after my surgery yet, so I bugged out and we hit the Lang Wang home.
It was a damned good day.
